Getting Active
At Common Ground we’re getting back to our roots — back to the mission that has made us a mainstay in the Bay Area’s conscious community for the past 30 years. If this is the first time you’ve picked us up, you’re one of many new readers attracted to a more holistic lifestyle. Welcome! We’re thrilled to have you join us. And if you’re a long-time reader, we’re grateful for your continued support — we couldn’t have done it without you.
Although the days of marching in the streets are far from over, we’re finding that the issues we’ve long endeavored to cover: the environment, social justice, spirituality, personal growth, sustainable food and wellness are inspiring a much larger audience than they did in the past. This is good news for the world and our community.
More and more people are awakening to the significance of preserving planetary resources and plugging in to a global higher consciousness. I believe this phenomenon marks the next phase in the evolution of each of us on an individual level — the key to evolution on a universal scale. I also believe it to be the catalyst for changes that we are seeing take place. Yoga, meditation and the teaching of some spiritual teachers have been frowned upon by some of my activist acquaintances, but I feel sure that until people seek to make changes in themselves, they will not be as effective in being part of the global consciousness taking place.
So let’s get active! Active in a yoga class, at the Zen center or one of the many amazing spiritual centers in the Bay area, or just pick up a book from one of your favorite spiritual teachers and take some time to get active about the most important issue: your own consciousness.
