Beauty Uncovered

I am the photographer of the image used on the January 2006 cover of Common Ground magazine (Asian woman in prayer position). Is there a way you could send a 4 or 5 copies to distribute to the model, hair and make-up people? Please let me know if this is possible. It looks wonderful! Thank you for using this image on your magazine!!

Happy to oblige and thanks for giving us such a fine cover image. Our thanks also to the model, the hair stylist and make-up crew — the unsung heroes of cover art. Do you happen to know the model’s name?

Her name is Julie Ikehara. I met her when she was working at a macrobiotic restaurant in NYC. She is wonderful! Thanks again and all the best. — Debra

When asked about crediting our current cover model, we were told that she is a well-known LA actress who prefers to remain anonymous beneath her mask.

Fight Like a Butterfly

I just wanted you to know that a whole heck of a lot of people have come up to me and commented on the interview you did with me (“Taxes, Revelations and the Politics of Jesus,” April 2006, CG ) and have said how hungry they’ve been for a piece like this. Thank you for your incredible commitment, perseverance and powerful storytelling! I am humbled to be an ally and co-conspirator of hope, love, peace and joy in action.

Pollution Solution

The Golden State continues to set the Green pace (“California Greening,” May CG ). The “Stopping Global Warming Starts Here” campaign is asking Governor Schwarzenegger to support the federal Global Warming Solutions Act to increase gas mileage.

The Bush administration has proposed sham solutions — such as $100 rebates to gas buyers — but if we increased mileage to 40 mpg by 2015, we could cut global warming pollution by 20% (1.8 billion tons) and we would save more oil than America imports from the Persian Gulf and from drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge combined.
